Chisinau, 14 August /MOLDPRES/ – The strong wind of today has affected several 0.4 kV overhead lines and caused many wire breaks, while more localities were left without electricity. A number of 54 mobile brigades have been involved in the restoration of the damaged lines and the subsequent reconnection to the source of localities with no electricity, according to a press release issued by RED Union Fenosa.
Similarly, the company's 24-hour phone service also gives consumers info on occurrence of new wire breaks.
In this situation, RED Union Fenosa warns consumers to pay more attention to electrical installations in the event of weathering or damage.
On Monday, 14 August, the State Meteorological Service issued a Yellow Code warning of wind of up to 15-18 metres per second, valid until Tuesday, 15 August. "The announced meteorological conditions present a real danger, which can adversely affect socio-economic activities and cause material damage. In particular, the gusty wind can affect the proper functioning of the electricity grids, generating insecurity and possible interruptions in electricity supply," said RED Union Fenosa.
