Moldovan deputy premier meets US envoy

Chisinau, 15 August /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan today met US Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The officials approached the current issues on the agenda of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, especially, the situation in the Security Zone and the prospects for a new meeting in the 5+2 format.
Balan reiterated the willingness of the Moldovan authorities to fully involve in identifying the appropriate solutions to the problems faced by the people from the two banks of the Dniestre, among them: restoration of the telephone connection, free movement of people, goods and means of transport, normal functioning of Latin script schools, apostile of diplomas of studies in the Transnistrian region, ensuring free access of farmers from Dubasari district to their agricultural lands etc.
Also, the sides pointed out the importance of maintaining an active and constructive dialogue within existing negotiation platforms. In this respect, the deputy premier noted that the involvement of international actors in the negotiation process can effectively contribute to solving existing problems and boosting negotiations in the 5+2 format.
At the end of the meeting, Balan appreciated the cooperation level between Moldova and the US, and thanked the ambassador for the support in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
