Chisinau, 17 August /MOLDPRES/- The government’s decision on amending the statute of punishment execution by convicted people will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 18 August.
The document proposes simpler conditions on allowing outgoing calls, long meetings of prisoners with others than husband/wife or relatives. Thus, those who live in cohabiting relationships will no longer have to provide evidence, including having common children. This will allow the elimination of a discriminatory element to other visitors.
Currently, the number, periodicity and duration of calls the prisoners can perform are not detailed in the Code of Execution or Statute of execution by convicts. They will be given specifically for different categories of detainees in an order issued by the Justice Minister.
Also, to train prisoners more easily, it will no longer be necessary to coordinate movement without escort outside prison with the Penitentiary Institutions Department head, but with the empowered people.
The new provisions will enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal.
