Day of open doors for Diaspora organized at Moldovan government

Chisinau, 18 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Open Day for Diaspora was organized at the Government today in the context of the official launch of Diaspora Days in the Republic of Moldova. The event brought together representatives of the Executive, Diaspora communities, partner organizations as well as persons responsible for cooperation with the Diaspora within the public institutions, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
In the greeting message addressed to the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, outlined the Government’s efforts to accelerate the implementation of reforms that would lead Moldovan citizens to return home and capitalize on the experience accumulated abroad in the strategic areas for the Republic of Moldova. "We are open to using all communication platforms to identify projects of common interest proposed by the citizens of the Diaspora that will contribute to the development of our country," said Octavian Calmic.
At her turn, Education, Culture and Research Minister, Monica Babuc, emphasized the need to mobilize for the development and realization of social, cultural and educational projects that would contribute to the study of the Romanian language and the preservation of the national traditions in the Diaspora. "You are the human golden resource of this country. We can take the models of other peoples to create a strong, viable state with citizens proud of their country by your help," said Monica Babuc.
For the first time, the composition of the Diaspora Excellence Groups and the areas for working together with the Prime Minister's advisors were presented. As such, the selected Diaspora experts will support the implementation of projects in sectors such as research, economy, environment, Diaspora consolidation, justice and medicine.
The conclusions of the mapping study of the Moldovan Diaspora in Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Israel, Portugal, Russia and the Republic of Moldova were also presented at the meeting. Also, the participants had the opportunity to address to Government representatives questions regarding the main reforms on the agenda of the Chisinau authorities.
The Diaspora Days in the Republic of Moldova are organized for the fourth consecutive year under the patronage of the Government. More than a hundred representatives of the Diaspora participate in the issue of 2017.
