Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Executive approved the draft law on the ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany on social security, signed on 12 January 2017, at its meeting today. The document provides for a framework of social security guarantees for migrant workers from Moldova who reside and/or work on the territory of one or both of the contracting states, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, the citizens of Moldova who have been working temporarily in Germany at the age of retirement will be entitled to a pension from this state. At the same time, during the period of activity, the Moldovans will be insured, as the case may be, with disability pensions caused by ordinary diseases, pensions and disability benefits caused by work accidents or occupational diseases and with survivors' pensions.
Each Contracting State shall pay the pension calculated in proportion to the insurance period completed on its own territory, applying the national legislation in the area.
The approved project will motivate people to work legally in order to receive benefits in case of social risks. Similarly, the provisions of the Agreement will create favourable conditions for the citizens going abroad to return to Moldova, benefiting from a pension from Moldova and Germany.
