Moldovan government to stipulate MDL 9 million to rehabilitate victims of political repressions

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers decided at its today meeting to allocate the necessary financial means to pay compensation to victims of political repressions. Totally, over MDL 9,16 million will be distributed to the 93 beneficiaries from 16 localities of Moldova.

According to the government's communication and protocol department, most of the amount – MDL 4,63 million, will be transferred to pay the fifth installment of the persons in the districts of Anenii Noi, Briceni, Orhei, Riscani, Straseni, Chisinau municipality and ATU Gagauzia, to whom this compensation was set in 2013. The other means allocated will benefit victims of political repressions to which compensation was established in 2014, 2015 and 2016, as well as those ones in Briceni and Taraclia districts who will receive the first tranche in 2017.

Yearly, the Government pays, on behalf of the state budget, compensation for the value of confiscated property, nationalized or removed in any way from the possession of rehabilitated victims of political repressions. The payment of the compensation may be spread over a period of up to three years if the value of the dispossessed goods is less than MDL 200 thousand and for a period of up to five years if the value of the goods exceeds this amount.
