Moldovan prime minister urges officials to fight bureaucracy

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip made clarifications regarding the searches of the Ministries of Education and Justice, at the beginning of Government meeting today, stating that he had personally noticed the law enforcement bodies after seeing queues at the respective ministries. "We are sorry to note, and for this we have to apologize to our citizens, that there are bureaucratic barriers created artificially by some officials," said Pavel Filip, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

According to the Prime Minister, the scheme used in the office for authentication of study diplomas was a flawed one, that is, working twice a week and releasing the acts in two hours, thus creating tails. This situation favoured the application of the scheme involving intermediaries and civil servants claiming and receiving bribes in exchange for speeding up the completion of study diplomas.

"Such phenomena are also registered at institutions providing services to citizens, the officials are imposing barriers to take money out of the pockets of those who want to speed up their services," said Pavel Filip.

In this context, the Premier asked the competent bodies to investigate the case and the culprits to be punished, noting that he would have the same position whenever he found out about irregularities and illegalities in the functioning of state institutions.

"That is to be a signal for all the rest, for the institutions that provide services. Let us not forget that we must offer quality services to citizens. I shall not stop and urge you, colleagues, to fight these barriers that can be eliminated. This does not require additional investment, but a different attitude," said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
