Moldova, Armenia to boost bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/- Prospects for development of the Moldovan-American partnership and possibilities to boost the economic cooperation between the two states were discussed today at a meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Ambassador of Armenia to Moldova Jivan Movsisyan, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The premier appreciated the development of bilateral relations, noting that the opening of the Embassy of Armenia in Chisinau would contribute to further promote political dialogue and boost cooperation on areas of mutual interest. At the same time, the premier stressed the importance of improving the cooperation within the Eastern Partnership, as well as initiating the talks on the joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation in order to turn to good account the potential existing in this sector.
In the context, the premier voiced openness for boosting the bilateral economic relations and highlighted the actions taken by the government to improve the business environment, including: simplifying reporting procedures, reducing the number of permits and institutions with control functions. “We have managed to change many things in order to create attractive conditions for business development in our country and we invite Armenian companies to invest in Moldova”, Filip said.
For his part, Jivan Movsisyan supported the intensification of interaction of business communities in both states and reiterated his country’s interest in promoting joint investment projects and organizing a Moldovan-American business forum.
Also, the sides considered the opportunity to use Giurgiulesti port to increase the volume of goods and to launch Chisinau-Yerevan-Chisinau airline flight in order to develop the tourism between the two states. The officials also approached the Armenian Diaspora in Moldova and highlighted its contribution to the reconstruction of Manuc Bey Mansion and consolidation of bilateral cultural relations.
