Speaker to hand over distinctions of Moldova for first time

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ – On the Independence Day, Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, will give the distinguishing marks of the Parliament of Moldova, for the first time, in a ceremony organized by the legislature, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Speaker Andrian Candu will decorate with the Medal of Democracy personalities with remarkable results in various fields of activity. There will be also awarded Diplomas of Honour of Ist, IInd and IIIrd degrees.
The Medalia Democrației (Medal of Democracy) is given to contribute to the promotion of reforms, defence of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, promotion of the traditions of parliamentarism, for special merits in the professional field of activity, as well as for the dedication in the special missions for securing Moldova's security.
The Diploma de Onoare (Diploma of Honour) is awarded to promote the interests and image of Moldova, national traditions and values, both in the country and abroad, for building and valorizing the cultural heritage of Moldova, for outstanding achievements in didactic and research activity, bilateral diplomatic relations and cooperation with the national parliaments of other states.
The Diploma Parlamentului Republicii Moldova (Diploma of the Parliament of Moldova) is awarded for a substantial contribution to the development of science, arts, culture and sports, for active participation in elaboration of state policies, for irreproachable activity within the central public administration authorities, for civic initiative and philanthropic actions, for remarkable successes to study and award prizes to international Olympics.
The Parliament's awards were established for the first time this year.
