Moldovan prime minister, Turkish ambassador appreciate dynamics of bilateral relations

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Hulusi Kiliç today. The officials discussed the expansion of Moldovan-Turkish cooperation, including the visit to Chisinau of the Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yıldırım, in May 2017.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, at the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Executive thanked the Turkish side for supporting the projects in priority areas and declared that Moldova has been advocating for the further upward pace of the bilateral dialogue. "The fact that we have a Free Trade Agreement, visa-free travel and an agreement on the movement of citizens of both states on the basis of identity cards is negotiated, is proof that we have got very good relations," said the Prime Minister.

In this context, Pavel Filip also mentioned the recent approval of the draft law to ratify the agreement between Moldova and Turkey on the social security of the citizens of both states. Also, the good results on the economic dimension were emphasized during January – June 2017, with the volume of trade increasing by around 17 per cent.

"We appreciate the Turkish investments in Moldova, we have many companies with Turkish capital and we hope they feel good here, and the Moldovan-Turkish Business Forum in May showed there to be potential on this segment," said Pavel Filip.

At his turn, Ambassador Hulusi Kiliç said he would continue to encourage Turkish entrepreneurs to place their investments in Moldova. The diplomat also assured that Turkey would support the realization of the projects for the benefit of the citizens of Moldova, referring in particular to those implemented in ATU Gagauzia, including the reconstruction of the hospital in Comrat and solving of drinking water supply problem in Vulcanesti.
