Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/- Events organized on the occasion of Independence Day were today inaugurated on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN).
On this occasion, in the morning President Igor Dodon, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Pavel Filip laid flowers at the monument Stefan cel Mare and later at Grieving Mother monument.
Filip noted that today is a beautiful celebration because 26 years ago the Independence of Moldova was born. “Since then, parliaments and governments of all colors have changed, there have been many tragic events, important decisions and major crises. During 26 years, unfortunately, we had more promises than achievements. Now the expectations are enormous, they require much responsibility and work. Moldova does not mean only government and parliament, but also hundreds of thousands of people who deserve a better living, citizens abroad, who will return home, I firmly believe. For eight years we follow the European integration path, and in this way we have the support of the external partners, thanks to whom we have made many positive changes. I strongly believe in the future of Moldova, a country that will become strong, that is why we need to be united in order to carry out potential home, where we will say proudly my country is Moldova”, Filip said.
A lot of cultural events will take place in PMAN, supported by folk music singers, bands, folk dance bands. The concert will end with a light music recital by local and foreign singers.
At the same time, 20 amateur artistic groups will march in a parade of popular costume, presenting the variety of national folk costume, and the folk craftsmen will exhibit their creations at a fair.
Events on Independence Day are taking place today in all the cities of the country.
