New director of Moldovan public television elected

Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ – Ecaterina Stratan was elected as director of the Moldovan public television channel 1 with the vote of the majority of the members of the Observers Council (CO) of the National Telecommunication Company Teleradio-Moldova today.
Four of the seven members of the nominated council voted for Ecaterina Stratan's candidacy.
In the competition for the position of director of the public television channel Moldova 1 were three candidates: Ecaterina Stratan, Sergiu Praporscic and George Iosip. The candidatures of Praporscic and Iosip were not supported by any of the CO’s members.
Ecaterina Stratan has over 23 years of experience in journalism, and since 2014 she has been working in the news service of Moldova 1.
The Moldova 1 Director is elected for a five-year term. The position of director of the public television station remained vacant after 26 June 2017, when Mircea Surdu announced his resignation.
