Moldovan government considers priority advancing negotiations on Dniestrian hydropower complex operation

Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip convened a meeting with the responsible Government authorities today to discuss the progress of the negotiations with the Ukrainian side on the operation and development of the Dniestrian Hydro-energetic Complex, the existing constraints and the actions to be taken in this direction, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
During the meeting, it was analyzed the current stage of the discussions on the four basic segments of the negotiations: demarcation of the state border between Moldova and Ukraine, regulation of property relations and mutual recognition of property rights, aspects regarding the energy exploitation of the Dniestrian Hydro-energetic Complex and its impact on the environment.
In this context, the Prime Minister asked the working groups to consolidate a common position, an efficient organization, initiative and clear wording of the submitted requirements.
The joint meetings of working groups in Moldova and Ukraine, in charge of negotiations, are due to take place in September – October 2017.
