Moldovan prime minister meets with Secretary General of International Union of Road Transport

Chisinau, 28 August /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with the Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRTU), Umberto de Pretto, today, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The interlocutors exchanged views on extending and facilitating international cooperation in the field of transport, on the transport situation in Moldova, as well as on the role of the sector in the development of the trade and the economic growth of Moldova.
In this context, the Prime Minister reiterated the opening of Moldova in promoting the IRTU objectives, noting that the Government has been willing to contribute to the intensification of the international cooperation in the field of freight and passenger transport.
At his part, Umberto de Pretto mentioned the favourable geographic location of Moldova in terms of the development of transit car transports, encouraging the authorities to make full use of that potential.
The IRTU was set up in Geneva in 1948, and currently assembles member associations and associate members from over a hundred countries.
