Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/ – The Transnistrian authorities will ask Russia, the mediator and guarantor in negotiations between Chisinau and Tiraspol, to bring this dialogue to the UNO, announced the separatist leader, Vadim Krasnoselski, the TASS news agency has informed, quoted by AGERPRES.

"If we see stagnation in the negotiation process, why not bring the dialogue to a new level: within the UN, where we would be heard. That is why such proposals will be sent to the Russian Federation," said Krasnoselski.

On 23 August, the Permanent Representative of Moldova to the United Nations, Victor Moraru, sent a letter to the UN asking for the 72th Session of the General Assembly to be included on a point entitled: Withdrawal of Russian military forces from the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

"The Government of the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with art. 11 of the Statute of the United Nations, calls for the inclusion of the issue of definitive removal of international military troops from Transnistria into the agenda for the 72nd session of the General Assembly," says the letter.

On 29 August, at a meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Galbur, with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova, Farit Mukhametshin, the Moldovan official reconfirmed Moldova's intention to promote the inclusion on the agenda of the UN General Assembly the withdrawal of the foreign military forces. Andrei Galbur said that that initiative has not aimed to withdraw the Russian troops being part of the trilateral peacekeeping force operating in the Security Zone (ZS) in the Transnistrian region.
