Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - The law on meal vouchers, rejected by President Igor Dodon, was re-voted by the parliament with the support of 55 lawmakers today.
The initiative of establishing an additional mechanism of wage earners’ social protection by providing meal vouchers belonged to Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.
In a statement posted on a social networking, President Igor Dodon said that he had not promulgated the law on meal vouchers, on grounds that ”a large-scale fiscal dodging would be behind this initiative, which seems to be noble.”
Under the re-voted law, the meal vouchers will be able to be used in canteens, coffee houses, restaurants or to buy food products at commercial and public nourishment units.
The employer is to distribute meal vouchers to wage earners in the end of each month, taking into account the number of working days of the next months. At the same time, the wage earner is to use a number of vouchers equal at the most with the number of days actually worked. The nominal value of a meal voucher will be 45 lei, with the vouchers due to be issued both on paper and in electronic format. The vouchers can be used exclusively by the wage earner and the change of the meal vouchers against money or diminution of the salary is forbidden.
