Moldovan speaker on working visit to Berlin

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu met officials of the Federal Chancellery and Foreign Ministry of Germany on 25 September, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

Candu was accompanied by Deputy Speaker Iurie Leanca. The sides discussed the social and political situation in Moldova, security issues and governance actions on the most important reforms.

Candu conveyed congratulations to Angela Merkel on her victory in the 24 September election, which have secured her fourth term as Federal Chancellor.

At the same time, the speaker awarded the medal of democracy for special contribution of Christoph Heusgen, Advisor to the Federal Chancellor for Foreign Policy and Security, as well as for the advancement of Moldova on the European integration path, signing the Association Agreement and liberalization of the visa regime with the EU.

The last working visit of Candu to Germany took place on 7-9 March 2017.
