Moldova to host Global Conference on Wine Tourism

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova will host for the first time the third issue of the Global Wine Tourism Conference in 2018. The announcement was made by General Director of the Tourism Agency, Stanislav Rusu, at a press conference today.
The quoted source said that, in addition to Moldova, Spain and South Africa submitted their applications. However, following the successful organization in Chisinau of the 61st Meeting of the Regional Committee for Europe of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the decision of the WTO leadership to host the Global Conference on Wine Tourism in 2018 was in favour of Moldova.
"Moldova will become, under the aegis of the UN, the World Capital of Wine Tourism in 2018. This decision is definitely considered a victory for the image of our country as a tourist destination, which will result in the positioning of Moldova in the world top of wine tourism destinations. We expect about 250 – 300 professional participants from over 70 countries. The transport and accommodation costs will be covered by participants. Our country will bear only internal expenses and of organization," said Rusu.
The first issue of the conference took place in Georgia in 2016, the second one of 2017 will be in Argentina and the third edition in 2018 will take place in Moldova.
Also, it took place the official launch of the first advertising video of wine tourism in Moldova during the press conference.
