Cyprus backs Moldova's efforts of European integration, ensuring territorial integrity

Chisinau, 26 September /MOLDPRES/ – Cyprus will continue to support the European integration efforts of Moldova and at the Eastern Partnership Summit in November will send an objective message of support to the citizens, according to the results of our country. The statement was made during the meeting with Prliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, paying a visit to Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
"I am sure the objective set by Moldova, the one of European integration, will be achieved through patience and effort," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus.
In this context, the Speaker referred to the efforts made by the authorities in implementation of the Association Agreement and the synchronization of the actions of the Parliament and the Government.
"The Roadmap for the Reform Agenda, now implemented by the Parliament and the Government, reconfirms Moldova's commitment to implementing the reforms and contains clear actions that will be implemented within 2017 for citizens to feel their results. It is a lot of work, but we have all the political support in implementing the Association Agreement as a priority so that Moldova can get a clear perspective of European integration," said Andrian Candu.
Also, at the meeting it was examined the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations between Moldova and Cyprus, in particular organization of discussions between the members of the Friendship Groups and the parliamentary commissions, including in the context of marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The Cypriot official sent a message supporting the sovereignty and independence of Moldova and efforts to ensure its territorial integrity. At his turn, Andrian Candu said that the negotiations were in the "5+2" format and Moldova was open to taking over the Cyprus experience in solving the conflicts. Similarly, the Speaker announced that authorities requested at the UN General Assembly the inclusion on the agenda of the issue on the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the territory of Moldova.
