Over 60 pupils, students to get merit scholarships

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/- Over 60 pupils and students will get merit scholarships in 2017-2018, according to a government decision, due to be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 29 September.

The document includes lists of students from higher education institutions and pupils from post-secondary technical vocational education institutions, who will benefit from merit scholarships this year of study. The scholarships are provided to support the academic performance of young people and increase the attractiveness of higher education and technical vocational one in the country.

Thus, 12 students of the higher education institutions will get Republic Scholarship amounting to 1,385 lei, and 30 students will benefit from Government Scholarship worth 1,155 lei. At the same time, 20 Gaudeamus scholarships estimated at 840 lei each will be awarded to pupils from technical vocational education institutions.

The lists of candidates for merit scholarships have been approved within the senate of higher education institutions and teaching councils of post-secondary technical vocational education institutions. Winners were selected under criteria such as: average of marks, educational, cultural and sports activities, Curriculum Vitae, publications and letters of recommendation.

The payment of scholarships will be made by each educational institution within the limits of budget allocations on the matter.
