Over 16,000 taxpayers direct two per cent of income tax to public associations, religious denominations in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ – oVER 16,000 people out of 188,630 who filed their income statements directed 2 per cent of their income tax to a public association or religious cult. The total amount allocated to 293 beneficiaries amounts to MDL 2 million 800 thousand, the state tax service’s information and media communication service has reported.
According to a governmental decision, the transfer of the percentage designation amounts according to the beneficiaries' banking data is made until 30 September 2017.
The citizens can target 2 per cent of the income tax indicated in the Statement of Income Tax, for the benefit of a public association or religious cult in 2017. The list of these associations or cults was approved by the Ministry of Justice on 31 December 2016. According to the established criteria, the tax validated the percentage settlements to 16,126 persons, out of which 27.6 per cent or in 4,452 cases these were performed in favour of public associations, and 72.4 per cent or 11,674 in favour of religious denominations.
The maximum amount of the percentage designation of a single citizen constituted MDL 7367.51 for public associations and MDL 9117.48 for religious cults. The largest amount of the income tax designated by individuals in 2017 was made in favour of Public Association of Veterans and Pensioners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova (MDL 1.37 million).
