More Moldovans aged 75 to benefit from financial assistance on behalf of state

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - More elderly people will benefit from financial assistance on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, marked on 1 October. As much as 7.1 million lei was allocated from the republican fund of residents’ social assistance to this end.

According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, the money will be distributed through local funds of residents’ social assistance.  

As many as 1,800 people older than 75, who have pensions up to 1,300 lei and have not enjoyed material assistance in 2017, will receive one-off sums worth 500 in the Chisinau municipality.

Asked by MOLDPRES how many people will benefit from this material assistance nationally, the head of the information and media communication service at the aforementioned ministry, Cristina Stratulat, said that “in areas, the number of beneficiaries and the size of the material assistance are to be established by decisions of the administration councils of the local funds of social assistance.”    

Stratulat specified that “the elderly people from the Chisinau municipality can raise the money starting from 2 October and the ones from settlements will be able to receive the means during the next two weeks, depending on the day when the councils approve the decisions.”  

The beneficiaries from Chisinau will be able to raise the money at the branches of Moldindconbank, and the ones in the territory – at the state enterprise Posta Moldovei (Moldova’s Post).  

Data by the National Statistics Bureau shows that, since the beginning of this year, there were 16,787 people older than 75 in Moldova.
