Moldovan PM advocates pressing ahead with reforms to pay to teachers according to merits

Chisinau, 4 October /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip started the today’s cabinet meeting with a congratulatory message for those who work in the education sector, on the eve of the Education Day, marked on 5 October, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“I wish the teachers much success in their didactic activity,” Pavel Filip said.
At the same time, the PM noted that the current problems in the sector represented a challenge for the government and solutions must be found to settle them. In the context, Filip referred to the need of increasing the salaries in the education sector, which should take place not only following tense discussions with trade unions.
“I want us to edify the reforms in such a way, so that, on the one hand, we know that we have an advanced education system, without which we cannot even image the future of Moldova. On the other hand, we should press ahead with reforms in such a way, so as to have the financial capacity to pay to teachers according to merits,” the PM added.
