Moldovan weather forecasters announce yellow code of rains, strong wind for this week-end

Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced a yellow code of rains and strong wind for 7-8 October.
According to SHS, heavy rains are expected mainly in the districts of central and southern Moldova on 7 October during the day and on the night to 8 October. As much as 15-25 litres of rain per one square metre is forecast. In places, the quantity of precipitation is expected to reach 30-40 litres per one square metre. On 8 October, the northern wind is to gust up to 15-20 metres/second.
The weather will cool on the next days. Meteorologists forecast air temperatures of +10 - +15 Celsius degrees during the day and +5 - +9 degrees at night. During the next week, the air temperature is to rise by several degrees. The highest air temperatures - +20 degrees – are expected in southern Moldova.
In October, the average monthly air temperature is by 5-6 degrees lower than in September and ranges from +8 degrees in northern Moldova to +11 degrees in the southern region. The coldest October for all the period of measurement, on a larger part of the territory, was in the years 1946, 1951 and 1976, when the average monthly temperature varied between +4 degrees (Briceni 1946) and +7.8 degrees (Ceadir-Lunga, 1976). The warmest October was in the years 1966 and 1996, when the average monthly temperature oscillated in areas between +12.5 degrees (Briceni 1966) and +15.1 degrees (Comrat, 1996).
