Eight people detained for drug trafficking

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/- Eight people have been detained in anti-drug searches that take place today in several districts of the country. The action aims at combating the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances.

Press officer of the National Investigation Inspectorate Diana Sochirca noted that the detained people act as organizers and intermediaries in the sale of drugs. “A 46-year old man was detained in Cahul district, previously convicted of several serious crimes, recognized as authority in the criminal world, as well as three accomplices, residents of Chisinau, where there were detected over one kilogram of marijuana, drug-related devices, weapons and ammunition, as well as equipment for hemp plant growth and drug packaging”, Sochirca said.

At the same time, three persons have been detained in Causeni, as well as a student of the Academy Stefan cel Mare of the Interior Ministry, who traded hashish drugs.

So far, over 90 searches have been conducted in 26 districts of the country. The raids are targeting individuals involved in drug trafficking. As a result of the searches, hemp plants, a gun without papers, illegally held AK 47 battle cartridges, drug-related items and hashish-like drugs were detected.
