Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/- The fees paid by teachers for continuous training and multiple reports they are required to do will be eliminated. The leadership of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PD) took the decision on the matter today, and submitted a request to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research.
PD leader Vlad Plahotniuc noted that the decision was made following several complaints from teachers tired of dozens of reports and assessments they are required to do. “My parents were teachers, and I remember that they were preparing for the lessons most of their time. If, in addition to this, as a result of this reform, teachers were forced to make a huge amount of reports and assessments, we unfortunately find that things in this area have changed in the wrong direction”, he said.
Plahotniuc pointed out he asked colleagues in the government to reconsider the possibility to increase wages for teachers in the country and to relieve teachers of the burden of excessive reports and course fees. “Teachers following educational reform are suffocated not just by reports, but are forced to pay course fees and incur logistic costs”, he said.
The education reform started in 2010.
