Former Moldovan MP to stay another 30 days under home arrest

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - The warrant of arrest for the former lawmaker, Chiril Lucinschi, has been extended by another 30 days. Magistrates of the Buiucani district court of Chisinau took a decision to this effect today.
Chiril Lucinschi was detained by officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) on 25 May 2017 and along with three representatives of an economic agent, is suspected of money laundering. Two months ago, the file in which Lucinschi is prosecuted was completed with a new count – false testimony, showed by non-inclusion in his declarations on wealth and personal interests of the capacity of financial beneficiary of the incomes got from two companies, which are present in the money laundering scheme.
According to CNA, the former MP, who is actually the manager of the companies Toast Delux SRL and IPA International Project Agency, along with interposed persons, would have committed money laundering in more episodes. If found guilty, the former lawmaker and his three accomplices run the risk of being sentenced to ten years of imprisonment. The ex-MP continues to plead not guilty.
