Law on preventing, combating terrorism to be published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The law on preventing and combating terrorism will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 20 October.
The document will be published once it has been promulgated by President Igor Dodon, who previously rejected the law.
The act determines the legal and organization framework of the activity to prevent and combat terrorism in Moldova, the coordination of activities of specialized subdivisions in preventing and combating terrorism, the measures taken by the central and local public authorities, associations and public organizations, responsible people.
Also, the document provides for creating regional counter-terrorism modules (Antiterrorist Territorial Council), which will be made up of district council heads, SIS territorial representatives, police officers and representatives of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service.
The law also includes new provisions for checking airline passengers. In pursuit of measures to ensure anti-terrorist security, airline companies operating flights to/from Moldova are obliged to transmit SIS after boarding the aircraft, but not later than the time of departure, the passenger list so that they can be checked until passing border control in the country of destination.
