Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The decree promulgating the law on meal vouchers signed by President Igor Dodon will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 20 October. The document was previously rejected by the head of state.
The initiative to set up an additional mechanism of social protection of employees by offering meal vouchers belonged to Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and was severely criticized by the president. He initially refused to promulgate the law by returning it for consideration in parliament.
Subsequently, the parliament maintained its vote for this draft law, the president having to promulgate it. Under the law, meal vouchers can be used in canteens, cafes, restaurants or for purchasing food in commercial and public catering establishments.
The employer is to distribute the meal vouchers to employees at the end of each month, starting from the number of working days of the following month. At the same time, the employee will use a number of vouchers equal to the number of days actually worked. The nominal value of a meal voucher will be 45 lei, which are issued both on paper and electronically. They can be used by the employee and the exchange of meal vouchers for money or salary reduction is forbidden.
