Academy of Sciences of Moldova to be reformed

Chisinau, 19 October /MOLDPRES/- The decree promulgating the law on amending and supplementing certain legislative documents signed by President Igor Dodon will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 20 October. The document was previously rejected by the president after several requests from academic environment.
The document will be promulgated after parliament has maintained vote for it. It will enter into force within four months of its publication in the Official Journal of Moldova.
Following the reform proposed by authorities, the Academy of Sciences of Moldova will remain without a number of tasks, as some entities will be subordinated to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research. The funds for research will no longer be managed by the academy, but a new structure, the Agency for Research and Development, which will be subordinated to the government.
The scientific community in Moldova, through the Supreme Council for Science and Technological Development and the leadership of the Academy of Sciences, based on the community experience and results of assessment carried out by the experts of the European Commission, actively participated in reforming science with own vision on the future of the field.
