Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government’s decision on the creation of the national commission for censuses, 2020 Global Round, will be published in the 3 November issue of Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
According to the document, the commission will be made up of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who will be its head, deputy head of the commission, deputy prime Minister, Economics and Infrastructure Minister Octavian Calmic, deputy head of the commission, Director General of the National Statistics Bureau Vitalie Valcov, as well as other cabinet members.
The regulation establishes the goals, powers, rights, as well as the way the national commission for censuses works. The commission’s goal is to coordinate works of preparation and holding the general agricultural census and the population and housing census, 2020 Global Round.
Under the document, the commission holds meetings if necessary, but not less than once in half a year. The commission considers and submits proposals on budgets and sources of financing to cover the spending needed for preparing and conducting the censuses, including identification and attraction of foreign financial resources, facilitates the cooperation of all state agencies having administrative sources with the National Statistics Bureau and ensures access to these sources, in order to efficiently hold the censuses.
The population and housing census is one of the sources of data for the working out, implementation and monitoring of policies and programmes meant for the social and economic development. Within the 2010 Global Round, Moldova took the General Agricultural Census in 2011 and the Population and Housing Census in 2014.
