Moldovan parliament increases salaries for ombudsmen

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The ombudsman, his deputy and the ombudsman for children’s rights will receive higher salaries, according to a legislative amendment adopted by the parliament in the final reading today.
Under the document, the ombudsman will get a salary of 11,800 lei, against an earlier one of 9,180 lei, his deputy – 11,340 lei, against 8,640 lei earlier and the ombudsman for children’s rights – 11,800 lei against 9,180 previously.
Thus, in accordance with the new amendments, the salary provided to the ombudsman will be equal to the one of the government’s secretary general.
According to the informative note of the provision, 129,600 lei will be needed from the state budget to cover the salary differences.
The amendments will enter into force as of 1 January 2018.
