Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/- Several types of milk that are marketed and imported have non-conformities, according to results of an expertise in a laboratory in Lithuania.
According to the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), 12 samples of domestic and imported dairy products were taken on 7-8 September 2017.
The samples were sent to the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute in Lithuania for investigation into quality and safety indices. The analysis revealed six samples of non-compliant dairy domestic and import origin.
ANSA Director Gheorghe Gaberi said that as a result of checks, it has been set that milk samples submitted to examination comply with the EU safety rules. “At the same time, there were set a few percent deviation from vegetable fats, namely that the percentage of milk fats does not correspond to the figures shown on the product label. Enterprises processing milk, where non-conformity had been found, are to be checked strictly until the situation is corrected and indicators correspond to,” Gaberi said.
Laboratory analysis and sample transport have been funded by the project “System of state control of raw milk and dairy products based on best practices of EU member states”, implemented by the Embassy of Lithuania in Moldova.
There are about 30 milk processing companies in the country.
