Map of uninominal electoral districts presented to Moldovan cabinet for approval

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - The national commission for the creation of permanent uninominal districts has submitted the list of uninominal districts to the cabinet for approval. According to the final map, which comprises 51 districts in all, 48 will be set up on the territory of Moldova and three abroad, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, 11 uninominal districts were set up in the Chisinau municipality, 2 – in the Balti city and 2 districts in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. At the same time, two of the 48 districts from Moldova will be created for the territory from the left bank of Dniester: one for the settlements Camenca, Rabnita, Dubasari, Grigoriopol and the one – for Slobozia, Tiraspol and Tighina municipalities.
Three uninominal districts, where Moldovan citizens live, were set up for the representation of areas from outside Moldova: one district to the East of Moldova, one district to the West of Moldova and one for the United States and Canada.
According to the provisions of the Article 74 of Moldova’s Electoral Code, the parliamentary polls are held based on one national district, which comprises the entire territory of Moldova and the polling stations from abroad and based on 51 uninominal districts, including the ones created for the settlements from the left bank of Dniester and abroad.
The uninominal districts are approved by the government on the basis of a decision by an independent commission, the composition of which is established under cabinet decision.
