Moldovan foreign minister meets OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today met OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) Lamberto Zannier, who is on a working visit to Moldova.

According to the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service, the officials discussed the cooperation sectors and the government’s efforts to increase social cohesion and interethnic harmony, as an example is the adoption and implementation of the national strategy for enhancing inter-ethnic relations, linguistic training of civil servants and supporting national projects in this regard.

Galbur pointed out the importance of promoting the social integration of national minorities, especially, in areas such as: participation in public life, educational processes, linguistics and media. At the same time, he said that respect for the rights of national minorities is an important element in the government’s programme in Chisinau.

Zannier expressed the willingness of the Office of High Commissioner to further provide assistance to the Moldovan authorities in implementation of policies for integration of national minorities.
