Moldovan PM has telephone conversation with emir of Qatar

Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, had a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, today. The Qatari official sent condolences as a result of passing away of Moldovan Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Valeriu Tihonov, the government's communication and protocol department has said.

"He was an extraordinary person who contributed to the good relations between Chisinau and Doha," said Emir.

At his turn, Pavel Filip thanked the official for that message and for expressing the desire to cover the expatriate expenses of the diplomat's inanimate body. Also, the Prime Minister expressed his compassion for the grieving family.

Valeriu Tihonov died at the age of 65. He was the first ambassador of Moldova in Qatar, appointed to position on 29 October 2013.
