Latvia encourages Moldova to continue implementing reforms to get closer to EU

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ – The agenda of the European integration of Moldova was discussed at the meeting of Speaker of the Parliament, Andrian Candu, with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
"The support of Latvia is very important for Moldova in the European integration process, including in overcoming the existing challenges. Further on, we have to implement a series of difficult reforms in more areas, with priority being the application of the Association Agreement and continuation of discussions with the IMF," said Andrian Candu.
Latvia will continue to support Moldova to get closer to the EU, urging Moldova to continue implementing the reforms. The Foreign Minister Latvia voiced hope that the Brussels Summit would reconfirm the EU's support for the Eastern Partnership countries.
There were also discussed issues related to strengthening of Moldovan – Latvian interparliamentary cooperation at the meeting, as well as measures to combat Russian propaganda throughout mass media.
Latvia is providing Moldova with total financial assistance of over €100,000 in 2017, by means of bilateral projects, in the context of promoting the modernization reforms of Moldova.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, is paying a documentary visit to Moldova in the context of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels, which will take place by the end of November 2017.
