Moldovan Culture Days held in Israel

Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated in the opening of the Moldovan Culture Days in Israel on 9 November. The event takes place in the context of the 25th anniversary of the Moldovan-Israeli diplomatic relations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

In his speech, the premier noted the close relations between the Moldovan people and the Jewish community, who co-lived in peace, friendship and good understanding over time, enriching each other’s culture and traditions. In this context, Filip highlighted the valuable contribution of several Jewish personalities, who have Moldovan roots, to building and developing the State of Israel. Among them is Shmuel Cohen – the composer of Israel anthem, born in Ungheni.

“We are proud of these personalities born in Moldova. At the same time, we regret that they have left our country, because Moldova needs such talented people”, he said.

At the same time, the premier pointed out the symbolism of the inauguration of the event by famous “Joc” folk dance group. It has affirmed over the years as a true institution to promote the most valuable national traditions and customs. It is a true messenger of art and culture of our people abroad”, he said.

Attending the event, Deputy Speaker of Knesset Tali Ploskov welcomed the delegation from Moldova. “Moldova has special people and opportunities to develop and become a modern and prosperous country”, the official said.

The Moldovan Culture Days in Israel are organized on 9-11 November.
