Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 87 per cent of those about 110,500 participants in the local referendum voted for the dismissal of the Moldovan capital’s general mayor. At the same time, almost 12 per cent of the electors voted against the mayor’s dismissal. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today made statements to this effect after the processing of 97 per cent of the reports.
According to CEC data, more than 91 per cent of the voters from the Centru district of Chisinau voted for the dismissal of the mayor, in the Botanica district – 85 per cent, in the Rascani district – over 92 per cent, in the Buiucani district – 90 per cent and in the suburbs – almost 79 per cent.
Also, the Promo-LEX association today evening informed that observers at the local referendum had found out certain new infringements, among which: ballot boxes were not sealed according to the legal procedures; unjustified presence of unauthorized persons at the headquarters or in the perimeter of 50 metres from the polling station, electoral propaganda of black PR in the perimeter of the polling station, organized carriage of voters, deficiencies in electoral lists, etc.
A referendum on the dismissal of the Chisinau general mayor took place in the Moldovan capital today. The plebiscite failed because of the low voter turnout.
