Each third Moldovan does not know for whom to vote at parliamentary elections - poll

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - Over 30 per cent of the Moldovans do not know for what political party they would opt, should parliamentary polls be held on next Sunday, according to data by the Public Opinion Barometer (BOP), unveiled by the Public Policies Institute today.

The opinion poll shows that 26 per cent of the respondents would vote for the Party of Socialists (PSRM), another 12.3 per cent – for the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), 3.4 per cent would give their suffrages for the Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PDA) and 2.8 per cent would vote for the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM).    

The rating of the parties for which respondents will certainly not vote is led by PDM, followed by the Liberal Party, Party of Communists and PSRM.    

According to Public Opinion Barometer, Igor Dodon ranks first in terms of the BOP respondents’ confidence; he is followed by Maia Sandu, Andrei Nastase, Vladimir Voronin, Ilan Shor, Pavel Filip and Vlad Plahotniuc. At the same time, the data of the survey shows that 49.5 per cent of the Moldovans trust no politician.  

PSRM enjoys the highest trust among the residents – 25.4 per cent; it is followed by PAS with 16.9 per cent, PDA – 11.7 per cent, PDM – 6.1 per cent.

The opinion poll was conducted on 18 November – 5 December, on a sample of 1,113 people from 82 settlements, with a margin of error of 2.8 per cent. The poll was held with the support of the Soros Moldova Foundation.

Earlier this week, PDM presented the data of an opinion poll conducted by the Institute of Marketing and Polls (IMAS). The poll shows that, if parliamentary elections take place on next Sunday, the Party of Socialists would rank first with 32 per cent; followed by the Action and Solidarity Party with 21.4 per cent and the Democratic Party with 16.1 per cent.
