Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ – The members and leadership of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) met today in the National Political Council, where they reviewed the activity during 2017 and adopted a resolution that sets out the party's activity principles for the future.
Within the council, Democrat leader, Vlad Plahotniuc, presented an activity report and set out a series of directives to be implemented in perspectives. He specified that the party led by him only act on the basis of clear commitments in the future and self-assess himself by the results he has gained, as citizens have demanded, and he has stood apart from populism and demagogy policy.
"PDM has made a complex assessment of the situation in Moldova, but also of the expectations citizens have from politicians and representatives of government. The citizens say that the way in which politics has been made for many years in Moldova is wrong. Moldovans want change, but they do not want to change a party with another party. In fact, people are asking parties to change the way in which politics is made, and this is also the basic principle that PDM strategy will rely on in the coming years," said Plahotniuc in the briefing organized at the end of the Council.
The leader of the Democrats said that the party's political agenda for 2018 would be one of bringing people closer to their problems. "Now the party has to move to the next level, one in which citizens can find ourselves in our politics, really feel our support, feel for the first time that a party becomes a partner, that they are first given precise results, they are only then asked for the vote. This strategic approach is not a promise we make, but a firm commitment. Each PDM representative, delegated to state institutions or supported by the party for different functions, will have the task to carry out his work on the basis of solving the priority problems of the citizens. The basic principles that PDM will continue to work on are: attitude towards people, care for them, justice, development, dignity and values," said Plahotniuc.
At the end of the Council, PDM members approved a resolution that providing for more actions, including changing the attitude of the political class towards citizens, developing local infrastructure, removing criminal schemes from customs, tax etc.
"PDM has already started actions aimed at including a change of attitude of state officials towards people, one based on respect for them, improving services provided by state institutions, abolishing abuses. We will soon come up with ample reductions in control institutions that have been the main activity of harassing people. The PDM's policy and actions are and will continue to be oriented towards respecting and protecting the dignity of Moldovans. It is time for Moldova to have a firm voice from exterior, and we are as motivated as possible to give content to our aspirations as a country and society," says the resolution of Democrats.
