Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today ratified the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Ukraine on readmission of persons.
The document was signed by Interior Minister Alexandru Jizdan and Head of the State Migration Service of Ukraine Maksim Sokolyuk at an official ceremony of the delegations from both states on 6 October 2017.
The agreement establishes principles and norms which regulate the procedure of return and readmission of persons staying on the territory of the two states, in cases when the regime of entrance/exit and stay of foreign persons and stateless people is violated. At the same time, the document will allow identifying a mechanism of providing mutual assistance, in order to efficiently implement policies of readmission and fulfill Moldova’s commitments in fighting the phenomenon of illegal migration.
The agreement is meant to adjust the present normative basis in the readmission field to the international rigours, in line with EU standards and represents a major goal of the Association Agreement.
