New draft Audiovisual Code to be presented today

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/- The new draft Audiovisual Code will be presented today at a meeting of the working group on better media legislation. Attending the event will be national and international experts, MPs, representatives of media outlets, media NGOs and international organizations, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The meeting will also focus on other media development projects in Moldova, elaborated by experts.
The meeting, chaired by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, will start at 14:00 and will be broadcast live on the parliament website.
The working group on better media legislation is a platform for communication and a mechanism for permanent cooperation between parliament and representatives of media outlets, international institutions and media NGOs. The group was set up in June 2017 at the initiative of Candu, with the support of the joint project of the EU and the Council of Europe “Promoting freedom and pluralism of media in Moldova”. Technical assistance is provided to group members by Freedom House, Internews, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the US Embassy in Moldova.
