Chisinau, 04 January /MOLDPRES/ – Government reform shows that we can get more with low resources: we risk politically, but we have gained efficiency. It is up to us to make 2018 a year of governance in the citizens’ interests. The statements were made by the Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, in an exclusive interview for the Agency.
According to the cited source, pensions and wages have steadily increased in recent years. Pensions have increased by 10 per cent and, following the recalculation of the new pension law, more than 150,000 pensioners have received more money. The minimum wage was also raised to MDL 2,380, 11 per cent higher than in 2016, and teacher’s income increased twice. "We also have an increase in foreign investment, like Draexlmaier, Gebauer&Griller, Fujikura, Sumitomo or Coroplast, which means a total of over $100 million and lead to the creation of thousands of jobs." said Filip.
He noted that structural reforms are the ones that have changed and will permanently change the performance of government in Moldova. "We were talking about government reform and pension reform, but equally important are the reform of the Labour Code, the banking sector, the anti-corruption legislation, the education system," said Filip.
The Head of the Executive pointed out that lately the support of the Western partners has increased. "It was not easy to convince them, but they saw that they had a European Integration Government. The Eastern Partnership Summit and the granting of macro-financial assistance for development encourage us to follow the same direction. On plans, I want more investment into Moldova, because we create jobs and bring home our youngsters abroad, the young specialists. I want to achieve the energy independence as soon as possible, to finalize the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline and the other projects we have undertaken in this area," concluded the PM.
