Newly appointed Moldovan ministers take oath

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ - The newly nominated cabinet members took the oath today. The decrees were signed by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, who exercises the interim duties of the Moldovan president for the government reshuffling, the parliament’s communication and public relations has reported.
According to Candu, for the state Republic of Moldova be different in 2018, three things are necessary: functional institutions, ruled by laws; officials with the sense of duty and respect for people; professionals in public offices.
“I am confident that the present composition of the Filip Government includes those three elements. The reshufflings made today brought experienced people to the governmental team, who have the needed authority for the norms and strategies adopted hoping for the country’s modernization be successfully implemented,” the acting Moldovan president said.
”Offering you congratulations on the appointment to office and voicing confidence that you will work well and efficiently, at the same time, I am sure that, in the same way, we will keep us far from the political polemics and disputes, just as the government of Moldova have done it so far during two years. In the same way, we should focus more on the things a government should do, understanding their problems and with the possibilities the government has we should try to come up with solutions to them,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.
In continuation, Iurie Leanca and Cristina Lesnic will hold the office of deputy prime minister, Economics and Infrastructure Minister is Chiril Gaburici, Justice Minister – Alexandru Tanase, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister – Tudor Ulianovschi, Health Labour and Social protection Minister – Svetlana Cebotari, Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister – Liviu Volconovici.
The candidacies of new cabinet members were put forward to the Moldovan president by the prime minister on 20 December 2017. The head of state turned them down. The PM repeatedly put up the same candidacies on 22 December 2017. Under the decision No 2 from January this year, the Constitutional Court ruled that the president of Moldova can refuse a prime minister’s proposal on the appointment of a person to the vacant office of minister for a good reason only one time.
The Moldovan president’s repeated refusal to fulfill his constitutional duties of appointment of the new cabinet members represents a deliberate infringement of the president’s constitutional duties, found out by the Constitutional Court on 2 January 2018.
