Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Moscow City Court today maintained in force the warrant of arrest issued by a lower court for the leader of the Moldovan Democratic Party (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc. The Democrats describe the move as a political blackmail made in an electoral year.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the spokesman for PDM, Vitalie Gamurari, said that the Russian court’s ruling had not been pronounced by accident namely today, when Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu promulgated the law banning the Russian propaganda on the territory of Moldova. Candu
“It is obvious that the harassment continues with political files against Vlad Plahotniuc. It is about a political blackmail, made in an electoral year,” Gamurari noted.
The spokesman for the Democrats specified that the decision by Russia’s court produced no legal effect on the international stage, as the leadership of Interpol had demanded that the member states do not comply with the requests coming from Russia as regards Vlad Plahotniuc, as they are politically grounded.
New information has earlier appeared in the Russian media alleging that the Democrats’ leader would be under criminal prosecution and a warrant of arrest was issued against him. At that time, PDM described the information as provocative actions of political harassment.
