Over 20 social buildings from Chisinau to undergo thermal rehabilitation

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ – Over 20 social objects will be rehabilitated thermally during the first stage of the implementation of the Energy Efficiency project in public buildings in Chisinau.
Interviewed by the agency, main specialist from the Public Relations Department of the Chisinau Mayor’s office, Vasile Chirilescu, specified that out of the 22 social objectives there are three hospitals, thirteen high schools, a boarding school and five kindergartens. "Rehabilitation works will begin in the second half of 2018," said Chirilescu.
The project is innovative and provides, in addition to thermal insulation of the walls, additional works for the rehabilitation of the ventilation, electrical and thermal networks.
Related to it, a working meeting took place today, with the participation of interim mayor, Silvia Radu, representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the E5P Fund, the Implementation Unit project and IM Directia constructii capitale (Capital construction directorate).
During the meeting, there were outlined main preparatory activities carried out during 2016 – 2017 for the start of the project in I stage, including feasibility study and preparation of the initiation of tender procedures for the energy audit of the buildings to be rehabilitated thermally.
Interim mayor general, Silvia Radu, mentioned that the entire implementation process of the project would be monitored, while best specialists in the field to be co-opted in this respect. "We want to include as many buildings that require thermal rehabilitation to increase the energy efficiency of schools, kindergartens, hospitals and blocks – of – flats," said the official.
Totally, there were selected 122 objects to be rehabilitated within the project.
The total value of the project on energy efficiency and thermal insulation of public buildings in the municipality is €25 million. In this respect, the EBRD and EIB provide a loan of €10 million. Also, Chisinau benefits from an investment grant of five million euros from the E5P Fund.
