World Bank to provide Moldova with 20 million dollars to modernize governmental services

Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a draft law on the ratification of two agreements on financing worth 20 million dollars in all, to carry out the project, Modernization of Governmental Services, signed with the World Bank in Chisinau on 28 November 2017. The draft will be submitted to Moldova’s president, the cabinet decision also reads.
The International Development Association – a structure of the World Bank Group - will provide Moldova with a loan worth 15 million dollars and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development - 5 million. The overall cost of the project is 22.3 million dollars.
The deadline for the entrance into force of the agreement is 120 days upon the date of their signing. The period provided for the implementation of the project, Modernization of Governmental Services, is till 30 June 2023 and the agreements’ validity term is of 20 years after the date of their signing.
“The project Modernization of Governmental Services will improve the quality and access to public services,” said WB Country Manager for Moldova Anna Akhalkatsi, after the World Bank’s board of executive directors had approved the financings on 29 August. As a result of this project’s implementation, Moldova’s citizens will access more efficient governmental administrative services of higher quality.
The governmental agencies and competent ministries will also benefit from technical assistance for the services’ digitalization, as well as for the conformity of the institutional capacities. Citizens and local businesses will get direct benefits, spending less time, efforts and resources in accessing the essential governmental services.
