Museum Law published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/- The Museum Law was published today in the Official Journal of Moldova. The document stipulates modernization and improvement of the activity of the museums in the country.
The new law sees the establishment of a methodological centre in the field of museography, which will assist the institutions. At the same time, specialists in the field will be trained, and the educational programs of the museums will be set in the school curriculum.
Also, the document regulates the establishment and classification of museums, museum heritage, technical-material facilities and museum funding. The procedure of accreditation, reorganization and liquidation of museums was set in order to monitor effectively the museum activity.
The Museum Law was worked out for implementation of the commitments assumed by Moldova under the Association Agreement with the European Union, as well as in accordance with the Culture 2020 Development Strategy.
The law enters into force three months after its publication in the Official Journal of Moldova. Thus, within 12 months after entry into force, the government will align its normative acts with the law.
