Almost thousand tons of anti – skidding material scattered on roads in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ – Nearly one thousand tons of anti – skidding material has been scattered on national roads on night of 16 – 17 January, so nowadays all routes are practicable. The announcement was made today for the agency by head of Administration Operational Service (ASD) of the state roads, Sergiu Capatina.

According to the cited source, road traffic is feasible for all types of transport. "Over the course of the night, there were 94 truckers and 276 workers. Presently, the snowfall has slowed down, and in the second part of the day the meteorologists forecast sleet," said Sergiu Capatina.

Natalia Golovco, the press officer of National Patrol Inspectorate (INP), told the agency that there were no blockages within recent 24 hours caused by adverse weather conditions on Moldova’s roads. "We recommend that drivers keep a greater distance between cars, do not drive at excessive speed and do not go on the road if they do not have a winter – equipped car," said Golovco.

Interviewed by the agency, the head of meteorological forecasts centre within the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), Ghenadie Rosca, said that the weather would warm in the upcoming days. "Until 23 January, rainfall in the form of snow, rain and sleet will fall across the country. Similarly, for tomorrow, it was issued yellow code of wind, precipitation in form of rain and snow," said Rosca.

According to the SHS’s public relations service info, temperatures of up to minus 4ºC at night – time are forecast for upcoming days and maximums up to plus 4ºC during the daytime.
